What accommodations do you have for out-of-town patients?

Dr. Capone routinely provides care for out-of-town visitors.  We recommend a number of conveniently located and comfortable overnight accommodations within blocks of our facilities that can be arranged simply by contacting our team.  Please let the staff at our plastic surgery center help to arrange your stay in Pittsburgh.

When do you offer physician consultations, and what can I expect at my visit?

Consultations are available most days of the week.  Dr. Capone will meet with you and any family that you wish to join you in the consultation.  Together you will explore all of your questions and concerns.  Part of your assessment will include a review of your health history and an examination by the doctor.  Following this, you will have a conversation with doctor regarding treatment options.  Often, these discussions will involve the review of medical drawings, before and after photos, or digital materials to help you better decide which treatment option is the best for you.  Dr. Capone will also discuss the pros and cons of your treatment options including recovery information.  You will have the opportunity to ask questions.  It is important to Dr. Capone that you have all the information needed to make the right decision about your surgery.  Following this conversation, you will have the opportunity to review a finalized quote and upcoming surgery dates.

What is important in choosing a plastic surgeon?

You must feel comfortable with your plastic surgeon. It is important to verify that your plastic surgeon is Board Certified or Board Eligible by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS).  Furthermore, it is important to choose a plastic surgeon who has graduated from a plastic surgery residency program that has been accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).

You can be assured that every plastic surgeon listed for our practice has graduated from an accredited American medical school and has trained in surgery for at least five years within an accredited program.

How do you ensure safety at your facility?

The Shadyside Surgi-Center goes well beyond office operating rooms. The Shadyside Surgi-Center affords all of the safety features of a hospital operating room but is specially tailored for plastic surgery patients. As such, it features precision air filtration and ventilation systems that provide twenty-five filtered air exchanges per hour. There is a natural gas-driven backup electrical generator that ensures uninterrupted power through any power outage. All equipment is maintained and routinely inspected by specialists in biomedical engineering. Our plastic surgery facility is licensed by the state of Pennsylvania and meets all OSHA regulations.  The Shadyside Surgi-Center has met 100% of the high standards of the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAAASF), and has remained continuously accredited for more than 25 years.  In addition to these rigorous standards in safety, the Shadyside Surgi-Center provides a private and comfortable experience for patients and their families.
